Italy has long been an important and influential country in Europe in the realm of literature and film, history, politics, business and the fine arts. Now Italy is known throughout the world for its style of life in Culinary Arts, Design, Fashion and luxury products. A degree in Italian Studies will allow you to learn more about this country by studying its language in the context of its fascinating culture and history, and also allows you to continue your education or work here in Italy. ILS-Italian Studies (IS) OR ILS- Studio Italia (SI) offers in-depth training: beginning with a critical analysis and historical understanding of Italian culture and literature, this program explores a multitude of topics ranging from historical to contemporary facets of Italian Culture and Society. Students will be introduced to Italian culture through on-site learning in Rome and fieldtrips to other Italian towns and landmarks of historical and cultural value. An aptitude for languages is an attractive quality for prospective employers and owing to the short supply of Graduates in Italian Studies this like all well-qualified linguists can help to open many doors to interesting and exciting opportunities. One of the benefits of a degree in languages is the inherent transferable skills that are developed over the duration of the course; these include critical thinking, an enhanced communicative ability coupled with a nuanced understanding of cultural diversity. Recent graduates have gone onto have careers as translators, interpreters, teachers and researchers to marketers as well as finding positions in the financial sector, business, the international art trade, journalism and fashion and travel industries.
